A total of 36 nominated hopefuls in the Dubbo electorate are seeking up to $200,000 of funding under the NSW government's My Community Project program, and their success will be decided at the grassroots level.
Members of the public are being asked to consider which proposals will provide the most benefit to their area and cast a vote.
Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders encouraged residents to get involved and choose between three and five of the nominated projects.
"This is an innovative and exciting program that is putting decision-making back in the hands of community members to weigh in on their top picks for projects in the region," Mr Saunders said.
More than 20 of the 36 Dubbo electorate projects are from the Dubbo district, with others from the Narromine, Wellington, Trangie, Mudgee and Gulgong areas.
Funding of about $260,000 is available for the whole of the Dubbo electorate, Mr Saunders reports.
A partnership between Titan Macquarie Mud Run (TMMR), Club Dubbo and Dubbo Regional Council is seeking $200,000 to construct a TMMR ninja course, children's playground and car park.
"This will be the first ninja course of its kind to be built in our community. Unique," the project proposal said.
The car park would provide safer and increased access to Sir Roden Cutler Park and the Tracker Riley cycleway, and the project would provide the community of Dubbo, particularly West Dubbo with an additional space, it said.
The Orana Support Service Hub would be a place for vulnerable people in our community to meet have a meal, wash and dry their clothes.
"The community project would help build social cohesion, increase connections between individuals and the community," the proposal said.
A sum of $200,000 is sought for Soil2Soul, a project to help marginalised young people turn their lives around.
"This project enables young people who have lost their way to reconnect with education and training, become work ready, and secure meaningful employment," its proposal said.
Voting closes on August 15 and can be done online or at Service NSW.
