A Honda CRV, driven by the Canberra woman attempted a U-turn against on-coming traffic when she collided with a Holden Colorado driven by a 29-year-old Dubbo man.
Inspector Skelly said neither driver sustained serious injury as a result; however, the female driver was conveyed to Dubbo Base Hospital for observation.
"Both cars suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene," he said.
"Traffic travelling south of Cobra was disrupted for about an hour as police and other emergency services worked at the scene. Police will now investigate the cause of the accident.
"This accident is a timely reminder for all drivers to take care on our roads. Patience and common sense are the two main ingredients that drivers need to practice behind the wheel. Slow down and drive to the conditions, don't be in a hurry, and use caution, especially when making turns against on-coming traffic at all times."
