According to sources, such as Ian Moss' website, Moss is one of Australia's best guitarists, and his voice is described as being silken, distinctive, ringing with clarity, and resonating with pure soul.
Moss' career with Cold Chisel began when he moved to Adelaide from Alice Springs after he failed one of his high school years. He applied for an advertisement for a guitarist in a shop window in 1973 and ended up joining the band which includes organist and principal songwriter Don Walker, drummer Steve Prestwich, singer Jimmy Barnes, and eventually bass player Phil Small.
According to Ian Moss' Website, Barnes said he remembered young Mossy as "a boy from the bush who didn't wear shoes but played fantastically".
Moss has landed awards for Album of the Year, Best Male Artist, Breakthrough Artist -Album, Breakthrough Artist - Single and Song of the Year (shared with Don Walker) for Tucker's Daughter, as well as being nominated for Single of the Year at the 1990 ARIA Awards.
Moss isn't a stranger to Dubbo, having performed here multiple times before, and according to the iconic Aussie musician, it's probably because he "likes to look after regional Australia."
"Playing in Dubbo has always been good, whether it's a band or solo (act)," he said.
"Touring into the heartland that is regional Australia has always been something that I have looked forward to for over 40 years, especially meeting the fans and hearing their stories.
"The audiences have always been supportive, and I'm looking forward to getting back out there next year and sharing this special Matchbook 30th anniversary with them."
Matchbook was released on August 1, 1989, peaking at number one on the ARIA Albums Charts.
The album remained in the Top 10 for 14 weeks and shipped more than 200,000 copies within the first 12 months alone.
Six out of the album's 10 songs, including the iconic 'Tucker's Daughter,' were written by Cold Chisel bandmate Don Walker; with two of the songs being co-written by Moss and Walker; and one being co-written by Moss, Walker and the band's drummer Steve Prestwich.
