Wayne John Hammond denied having anything illegal in his possession on January 2 when police arrived to search his home, court documents revealed.
In Dubbo Local Court last week the 60-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing prohibited steel handcuffs and an unauthorised .45 calibre air rifle police discovered during the search of his home.
"Nah they would never give me a licence," Hammond said when police asked if he ever tried to register the firearm or get a licence to possess it.
Magistrate Gary Wilson placed Hammond on a community corrections order for 12 months and he was ordered to be of good behavior.
