Mr Gratton said an Art Happening is where a group of people come together to work on the one art piece, creating a joint final product.
The canvas' will be hung at the entrance inside the Delroy Park Shopping Centre after Mr Gratton has done the finishing touches.
Mr Gratton said he hopes to make the NAIDOC Week Art Happening a Dubbo tradition.
"An Art Happening is most common in Europe when a group of people create a work-of-art," Mr Gratton said.
"The biggest one I did was in Budapest with more than 400 children."
The children and their families will be able to view the artwork, consisting of two canvases, one from Wednesday and one from Thursday, every time they visit the shopping centre.
Dubbo West Goodstart was also there to participate.
