The Jets and Sydney FC will clash on Saturday, September 21 at Apex Oval in an A-league pre-season match.
Mr McKinna said the Jets are looking forward to playing in Dubbo.
"Newcastle is a long way away from Dubbo I know, but we have a lot of members here, and I have a history with Dubbo, I used to work out here many many years ago," he said.
"This is a great opportunity to spread football into the regions; we spoke to the council and made it happen.
"If we can get a few new members out of playing here that would be good, but we just want to spread the word about how good football is.
"To bring this class of football out to Dubbo is great for fans, it's great for players, and it shows we want to grow a more diverse fan-base, getting two top teams, one the current champion to play in Dubbo is a win-win situation for all involved."
Dubbo Regional Council mayor Ben Shields said he was delighted to secure two of the nation's top team to play in our city.
"There is no doubt our region is passionate about sports and given the facilities, accommodation and audience we have to offer, why should we only enjoy great events like this on television when we can host them and go to the actual game?" he said.
"It's definitely one for fans and those that want to see top-tier sports and events.
"The Dubbo region is an excellent location for big-ticket drawcards and events like this, and we'll encourage more of them to come here in the future.
"It'll be great for Dubbo because both the Jets' and Sydney FC fans could make a weekend of it and enjoy our region while they're here."
Mr McKinna said the club would continue its connection with Dubbo next year with the Jets' W-league team likely to play a game in Dubbo.
