More than 50 people turned out to the first Women In Construction program session on Thursday night.
A partnership between The Exchange and North Construction, it was a response to "a community of wives designing logos, cousins writing SWMS, and in-laws running payroll".
The construction industry is the fourth largest employer in the Dubbo region, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data.
'Our first Women in Construction program was a huge success," The Exchange community manager Minna Demetriou said.
"With over 50 attendees, it was extremely rewarding to see that the premise of the event really resonated with people in our community.
"As Naomi Bourke said on the night, there are so many events out there for the men in the construction industry, it was about time that something like 'Women in Construction' was created.
"Evenings like this are a great opportunity to bring the community together, listen and learn in a relaxed setting."
The Exchange aimed to provide the community with informative programs and events, Ms Demetriou said.
"Presenters Melisa Wheatley from Martel Wheatley and Alex Kelly from Alex&ria Digital were incredibly engaging, with business tips and hacks, specifically relevant to the construction industry," she said.
"We'd like to thank our sponsor, North Constructions again for partnering with us on this initiative."
The follow-up event for Women in Construction will include new topics and presenters and is scheduled for July 24. Ms Demetriou encouraged people to register now to secure their spot and follow The Exchange for more updates.
Matthew Cook, the managing director of Central Coast-based North Construction who completed high school at Dubbo, was in attendance.
"With the first successful event held last night, North Construction & Building is proud to be sponsoring this series of events for The Exchange," he said.
"The initiative is one close to this medium-sized commercial builder's heart as they work hard to promote their industry and the career opportunities, for all, available within it.
"'We are so pleased with the success of the first event held by The Exchange and are really looking forward to the second in late July.
"We are passionate about the ability of women looking at careers in the construction industry, as well as helping them facilitate the scalability of their businesses."
