The 22 members of the Dubbo Outback Dragons competed against paddlers from across the world including Spain, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, America and France.

Crew member Chris Robinson said despite a few hiccups due to protests the team got to enjoy two days of paddling.

On day one the crew competed at the Hong Kong yacht club, completing a one-kilometre race three times, and some 200-metre races.

"It was really treacherous because there was big boats moving around in the harbour," she said.

"We were trying to paddle but we were almost our of our seats trying to catch water to paddle, so it was pretty exciting and pretty challenging.

"It was very good fun, and we laughed afterwards."

On day two the team competed in the Stanley dragon boat races, where Mrs Robinson said they "did well".

"We beat Newcastle and never came last," she said.

Now the team are working toward the Australian Masters which will be held in Adelaide in October.

"Then we'll all be looking for the next big competition overseas."
