Cancer sufferers, Dubbo Hospital patients, motorists, police, tourists and workers are set to benefit from more than $100 million in new funding announced in the NSW budget on Tuesday.

About $44.2 million will be spent across the next 12 months progressing the Dubbo Hospital redevelopment and $17.3 million will go towards building the Western Cancer Centre, budget papers reveal.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo will get $17.6 million to build a new cafe and water play area for kids, in a bid to boost tourism.
About $25.9 million will be spent preparing to build a new bridge to help motorists cross the Macquarie River in Dubbo when there is a flood.

From 2020 to 2023, $35 million will be spent building a police training and education centre in the city. Construction of a new, job-creating rail maintenance facility was also confirmed.
A further $3.9 million will be spent on the transformation of the old Dubbo West Infants School into the Yawarra Community School for students with disabilities and extra support needs.
"We're now moving into another phase of regenerating, re-emphasising and reigniting our regional areas and Dubbo is certainly one that's very much at the forefront and I'm very excited to be a part of it," state Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders said.
"Over the next year we'll see the completion of stage three and into stage four of the hospital, including that Western Cancer Centre and that money will roll on in the next 12 months which is fantastic," he said
