The 2019 Group 10 and Group 11 clash will be void of some of the former's best players, with Doug Hewitt, Brent Seager and Willie Heta also unavailable for the trip to Forbes.
But there will be two old foes set to line-up against one-and-other on Saturday and that should be worth the price of admission alone.
Ranse and Kavanagh have clashed each time the two oppose each other, the first being in this game two years ago at Parkes before most recently going toe-to-toe at Oberon when Ranse's Tigers hosted Kavanagh and the Western Rams under 23s in a trial game.
There's no malice, it's just two of fiercest competitors in either competition butting heads - again and again and again.
And Ranse can't wait.
"Bloody oath I can't," Ranse laughed, the Tigers half a late call-up to play halfback for Group 10.
"I got the call-up on Monday off Ozzie and we trained on Wednesday ... I'm pretty excited to be playing.
I can't wait for the challenge.
- Oberon and Group 10 halfback Matt Ranse.
"And every time I do play in these games I end up finding Wade and we grab hold of each other and there's a bit of a to-and-fro.
"We seem to clash but that's what it's all about."
Ranse is one of a six changes to the original Group 10 side named last week, with injury whacking the defending western champions hard over the long weekend.
Lithgow giants Cody Godden and Greg Behan have been handed starts by their club coach Graeme Osborne, while Ranse will be joined by last year's Panthers premiership hero Willie Wright in the halves.
Jack Mackey has been promoted to the starting side at prop while Ranse's Tigers teammate Abel Lefaoseu will line-up in the centres.
He'll help form a formidable right edge for Group 10, with Ranse and Lefaoseu joined by Panthers backrower Jack Siejka and Mudgee speedster Corin Smith.
"I can't wait for the challenge," Ranse added.
"It's been hard, and I don't think I realised how big a step it would be footy wise.
"It's been interesting. Training has been better, there's people showing up," he laughed.
"And Starlo is doing a great job with the team.
"It's always good to get a sniff around rep teams."
Orange CYMS' pair Lachie Munro and Ryan Griffin will also line-up for the blue and whites, on the wing and at hooker respectively, while Hawks' representatives Ethan McKellar and Rakai Tuheke were late withdrawals.
Group 10 tackles Group 11 on Saturday at Forbes, kick-off scheduled for 2.40pm.
