A 29-year-old Dubbo resident who king-hit a man and caused injuries so severe the man had some of his teeth and nerves removed will not spend any time in jail.

Magistrate Gary Wilson sentenced Reece Charles Large to a 16 month term of imprisonment, which he said was to be undertaken by way of an intensive corrections order served in the community.
In Dubbo Local Court on Thursday the former Rose Bay resident was also ordered to abstain from drinking alcohol for 16 months and pay up to an estimated $15,000 in medical expenses the victim is expected to incur.
Court documents reveal Large, a woman and the 22-year-old victim were walking the streets of Dubbo at about 3.30am on November 3 after a drinking session at the Pastoral Hotel.
Large said "tell me the truth, you slept with my missus" to the victim before he pulled back his right shoulder, clenched his fist and punched the victim in the mouth.
"The force of the punch snapped two of the victim's front upper teeth, pushing them back into his mouth, only holding on by their roots," police said in a facts document Large agreed with.
After being knocked to the ground, the victim's head hit the road and bled.
According to police, when the victim was down on the ground Large stood over him with a clenched fist and said "you slept with my missus".
Large admitted to consuming 30 schooners of alcohol on the night of the assault, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was supported by his wife and mother in court.
The assault was not planned and Large is unlikely to reoffend, his legal representative told the court.
Large came before the court having previously been charged with a violence related crime and drink driving, the court heard.
Alcohol was a factor in all of those offences and since the assault Large had given up the grog.
"He's engaged professionals to help him understand why he does this and prevent it," the legal representative said.
