This year there is a new reason to lace up and get running.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo has partnered with the Dubbo Stampede to offer participants the opportunity to help raise funds for giraffe conservation.
So you can run for a cause and get your friends and family to sponsor you!
Giraffe are facing a silent extinction with populations plummeting a staggering 40% over the last 30 years.
Unfortunately habitat loss and human impact are two of the leading causes of population decline for this majestic animal.
The funds raised through the Dubbo Stampede will help ensure that Taronga Western Plains Zoo continues its vital breeding program and community partnerships with the Northern Rangelands Trust, whilst also increasing awareness of the threats facing giraffe.
"This is the first year we have added the option to raise funds for a specific conservation program and we hope it will have great benefits for the Giraffe conservation breeding program," said Fundraising Events Officer, Danielle Skerrett.
"By fundraising as part of the Dubbo Stampede event participants can win great prizes as they meet key fundraising milestones. By simply signing up participants will receive a free running cap."
"The Dubbo Stampede is a great community event that attracts visitors from across the state, it's a great opportunity to enjoy a day at the Zoo and enjoy some physical activity," said Danielle.
Costs will vary depending on the event, but the website provides full pricing and application details. Join us today to help ensure a thriving future for giraffe in the wild! Sign up to fundraise.
