The pair placed sixth in the Ex-Services and Citizens Cup but were strong $1.85 favourites heading into the race owing to a combination of recent form and their past performances at Peak Hill.

The race was won by Young-trained gelding Ned Pepper ($12), the bay gelding surging ahead to double down after a first place finish in Dubbo in his last start in May.
Ned Pepper beat Tuapeka Glory and Hidden Courage to the line.
It wasn't all bad news for the Dubbo trainers that made the trip out to Peak Hill, however, with Martin Simmons' Mach the Knife notching up victory in the Central West Funerals Pace earlier in the day and taking home a respectable $4,800 for their effort.
A margin of 1.30m separated Mach The Knife and driver Jordan Reynolds from their closest competitor as the gelding added a second win to his tally of 19 career starts.
Peter Gavin's Big Bill and driver Amy Rees also secured a first place finish in the day's events, taking out the Langlands Hanlon Local Pace's $6000 top prize with a 1.10m margin between him and Andrew Ward's Kempley Princess.
