A 32-YEAR-OLD man from Nyngan has been charged following an alleged trespassing incident at a Western NSW mine.

NSW Police rural crime officers said the incident occurred on Saturday, May 25 in Cobar.
"A male person was detected by staff, [he was] trespassing and hunting at a mine on the Louth Road, Cobar," Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.
"Police attended and after a lengthy search of the area and follow up inquiries a 32-year-old man from Nyngan was issued with an infringement notice for the offence of trespassing on private property to hunt."

Det Insp Whiteside said trespassing was a major focus for rural crime officers across the region.
"Police will continue to target persons trespassing on rural properties to combat stock theft and biosecurity issues," he said.
He urged anyone who detects someone trespassing on their property to contact their local police station or triple-0 as soon as possible.
