"My mum has won Grand Champion Flower, my sister's won Grand Champion Craft and my nan won Grand Champion Cake. I thought there's nothing really I can do, I'm not that talented, so I thought I could enter Showgirl."
Ms McGuire is one of six participants in the 2019 Dubbo Showgirl competition. It aims to find someone who can represent young, regional women of NSW while promoting the annual Dubbo Show.
"My family's always participated in the show but I've never had anything I could enter in. I always entered craft and cakes but it was never really a passion of mine," she said.

When she moved back to Dubbo after studying a musical arts degree in Sydney, the 22-year-old finally had her chance to enter.
"Doing showgirl was something similar to performing arts, you're the face of something, you're out there, you're speaking to the community, you're serving people - and that's what I'm really about," she said.
The Showgirl entrant has already been heavily involved in the community. As a teacher with Stepping Out Dance Factory she volunteered her time for the recent Stars of Dubbo Dance for Cancer fundraiser. She also volunteers at the Dubbo Eisteddfod and DREAM Festival.
Ms McGuire said she wanted to continue to serve the community by becoming the Dubbo Showgirl.
"I have a lot of ideas. I'm not involved with the agricultural side of the show but who I'm connected to is probably a new audience I want to bring the next generation into the show and be able to promote it to make it bigger than what it is," she said.
"I'm really hoping to meet the other contestants who are all doing it for the same reason and network with other people in the community."
Ms McGuire, who works at the ANZ Bank, said her plan was always to get her university degree and then move back to Dubbo. She said one of the reasons for moving back was the affordability.
The Showgirl entrant said she hoped to keep working her way up at the bank, while teaching dancing at night.
Ms McGuire said she was really looking forward to the Dubbo Show this year and she couldn't wait to meet everyone.
The winner of the Dubbo Showgirl competition will be announced on Saturday, May 25, prior to the official opening of the Dubbo Show.
The show will be held from May 24 to 26.
