The annual event held at Dubbo Sportsworld will feature some national representative cricket players.

According to organising committee member and local officer Simon Madgwick there are some well accomplished players residing in the force participating at the event on Friday and Saturday.

Madgwick says the two-day event is an opportunity for police across NSW to come together in a non-formal setting and work on the camaraderie throughout the force.

Madgwick says the event poses as a chance for police to let their hair down.

"It's an opportunity for police to come together in a non-threatening, sporting environment where we don't have to worry about the struggles of the outside world," he said.

"We can see how everyone is doing, ensure everyone is okay and offer support in terms of friendships.

"Police understand police better than anyone else and we understand each others difficulties.

"It's an environment where we can relax and openly discuss topics we may not be able to speak about outside of the force."

Madgwick says indoor cricket is the choice of sport due to its prominence in the Australian culture.

"It's a sport the majority of people know how to play," he said.

"And it's a team sport, so it's a good way to bring everyone together.

"There is something for everyone, everyone can pitch in one way or another.

"People of any skill level, any competency can play it," Madgwick added.

Madgwick says the fact that indoor cricket can be played during any weather condition is an added bonus.

Play started on Friday morning and will continue Saturday with accommodation provided in Dubbo.

They will then merge out onto the streets of Dubbo for dinner to wrap up their visit.
