AS the federal election campaign enters its final few days, pre-polling centres across the Parkes electorate are experiencing a surge in early voters.

As of Monday, 14,487 people had cast an early vote in pre-polling centres located in Dubbo, Bourke, Broken Hill, Cobar, Gunnedah, Moree and Narrabri.
This represents a 21.7 per cent increase on the 11,899 people who had cast their vote by the Monday before the 2016 federal election.
The early voting centre in Dubbo has received the most votes so far with 8524 received by Monday.
This was followed by Broken Hill with 3559 votes, Gunnedah with 1095, then Narrabri (483), Moree (438) and Cobar (388).
By comparison, the Calare electorate has also recorded a surge in early voters, with 23,881 cast so far which is a 38.8 per cent increase on the 17,201 made by the Monday before the 2016 election.
