A 21-year-old Dubbo man who was released from prison in March is back behind bars after he was charged with allegedly assaulting a woman, damaging property and possessing ammunition without being authorised to do so.

Joel McKellar, of Bunglegumbie Road, was on parole when police allege he also breached an apprehended domestic violence order, drove a vehicle while he was disqualified from doing so and failed to stop when pursued by police.
Police also charged Mr McKellar with possessing a prohibited drug, which in court documents they alleged was like "green vegetable, suspected to be cannabis".
During a bail hearing in Dubbo Local Court on May 8, Mr McKellar's legal representative said her client was "trying to sort himself out"
Magistrate Gary Wilson refused the bail request and Mr McKellar will be back in court on May 22 to enter pleas.
