Regional Enterprise Development Institute (REDI.E) chief executive officer Tracey Shillingsworth has spoken of projects and plans for the future from her Dubbo office.

It came on the eve of the Western NSW Regional Business Awards, in which indigenous-owned and managed REDI.E is a finalist in the excellence in innovation category.

REDI.E, which helps open up career pathways for jobseekers and in economic development in communities, celebrated success at the 2018 Dubbo Chamber of Commerce Rhino Awards.

Ms Shillingsworth told of a big 12 months for REDI.E, which in May 2018 changed its name from Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation (MPREC).

It had undergone a whole new rebranding of the business and everything it was involved with, she said.

"So we chose to rebrand as a way to better distinguish us from other organisations in the area," she said.

"So forging ahead with an era where we can create new opportunities and be innovative with our thinking.

"And just basically how we achieve this and provide a better service delivery not only to our First Nations people and the communities we work for and with, but basically to get us out there in the broader footprint of industry and have better stakeholder engagement with those industries."

Covering a vast area, REDI.E set about finding ways to better connect its staff and to each other.

It reports its new systems have helped to streamline processes and spend more time delivering great programs to our communities.

"For me, one of the other projects that I've been involved in internally is a business intelligence dashboard," Ms Shillingsworth said.

"It's to allow us to measure the performance of our program delivery and data collected by our employees..."

Not-for-profit REDI.E was honoured to be selected as a finalist at the regional business awards.

A win would allow the organisation to further promote its work, Ms Shillingsworth said.

"I see being a part of the awards has given us that introduction to a lot of the other businesses and companies around the region," she said.

"...we can certainly bring more opportunities to the region long-term, not just short-term contracts.

"And we can certainly reach out to more industry groups to build relationships where we can provide business and companies with perhaps a talent pool for their workforce, or wherever the conversation takes us."
