The under 12 girls walked away from round one undefeated.
Their first game against Bathurst ended in a strong win for Dubbo with a score of 4-0.
In their second game the girls won against Wellington with a stronger lead 6-0.
Coach Gary Jones said the girls have been training since February.
"We have an all-round very strong team with a lot of experienced players," Jones said.
"We have five players from the under 12s side last year.
"You can never tell how you're going to go, but I'm anticipating the girls will continue to play well after their promising start to the season.
Jones said although the under 12s girls were pleased with their efforts in round one, they will continue to work on improving.
"There are still some improvements we need to work on," Jones said.
"Our toughest competitor is probably Bathurst, they're a strong team."
But according to Jones the girls having been working together well.
"They're good listeners and I'm pleased with their attitudes and their approach to the games."
The under 12s boys made quite the impression in round one for their first time competing in the Western youth league competition.
The side scored a strong win against Lithgow, taking the opposition out 9-2.
However, according to the boys coach Craig Mules, the boys were disheartened when they tied with Bathurst 4-all.
"We were in the lead 3-1, and then we let it slip," Mules said.
"We leaked a couple of goals against Bathurst, so we will have to tighten our defense up abit."
But according to Mules the under 12s boys are keen to perform at their best.
"It's going to make for good competition," he said.
"Matthew Knight is a really strong midfielder, James Turner spun an absolute blinder as goalkeeper, and our striker Nic Peters is also a really strong player on our side."
Mules dubbed Mudgee as the team's toughest competitor.
But for most of the under 12 boys it's going on their third year of experience.
"Most of our players have been with me since the under 10s," Mules said.
"I'm excited to see how they go, they're excited and I'm proud of them for stepping up.
"They're good kids and they become your mates too."
