A couple of Group 11's big guns have called on Westside to band together this season after a tricky off-season was followed up with a hard-to-watch 86-0 round one drubbing at the hands of Parkes on Sunday, a game stopped with 20 minutes remaining.

It doesn't get any easier for the Rabbitohs this week, either, with Paul Hausia's Westside outfit set to tackle the Tigers at Nyngan's Larkin Oval in round two.

But Tigers skipper and former NRL gun Justin Carney joined the chorus of Group 11 figures to back the battling Rabbitohs, urging the depleted Westside club to "look forward" to 2020 as the red and greens prepare to battle throughout season 2019.

Speaking after his side's first-up win at Forbes on Sunday, Carney said the Tigers were looking forward to taking on the Bunnies in their first clash at Larkin Oval this year and was hopeful Westside will come to the party and field all grades.

"We want a good battle and a good competition, and I think I speak on behalf of the whole club there," he said.

"Hopefully they get together next week ... fingers crossed for them."

Forbes' premiership-winning mentor, Cameron Greenhalgh said it'd be "devastating" for Group 11 to lose a club and drop down to seven sides.

"I think they probably need to regroup a little bit but it'd be a shame to lose a first grade side," he said.

"You feel like the season goes quick enough and a few extra weeks off would be no good when you're trying to build momentum and that sort of thing."
