Defending champions Dubbo FC are the only team undefeated after just two rounds of play, triumphing 2-1 over 2018 minor premiers Orana Spurs in round one before prevailing 3-1 over South Dubbo Wanderers the following week.

Meanwhile Macquarie United, who narrowly missed out on last year's grand final, devastated Westside Panthers 11-0 before drawing 5-5 with Newtown Saints - themselves emerging as a dark horse this season.

But after a week off for Easter, this Sunday's clash between Dubbo FC and Macquarie will be an arm wrestle, with the winner to earn the title of the team to beat in 2019.

Meanwhile Spurs face South Dubbo Wanderers and the Saints play Westside.

The competition is tight early on in 2019, with Spurs and Wanderers on three points and Newtown on one ahead of Westside, who are yet to record a win.

Despite openly acknowledging growth - not winning - is the focus in their first season back in first grade, the Panthers could still have a dramatic impact on the outcome of a tightly-contested competition.

If they can achieve the improvement they're hoping for throughout the year, the points differential could benefit some teams and not others.

Already Macquarie and Spurs boast a differential of 11 and 12 respectively, having played Westside, while Dubbo FC sits at just three.

Meanwhile in the women's top flight competition, ladder leaders Dubbo FC take on the Westside Panthers, RSL 78s play the Newtown Saints and the North West Falcons host Macquarie United at Gulgong.
