"You could hear people in the audience sobbing. There was someone in the front row crying, only five metres away from me. It's really quite heavy," Mr Keith said.
The performance, which is coming to Dubbo, turns poems and stories from Gallipoli into music. It features Mr Keith on the piano and Ms Shanal as the soprano.
It started when Ms Shanal approached four composers - two from Australia, one from New Zealand and one from Turkey - to create four songs about the Gallipoli landing in 1915.

Mr Keith said he and Ms Shanal wanted something special to commemorate 100 years since the landing.
"It's new Australian, New Zealand and Turkish music that covers a very significant event in Australian history," Mr Keith said.
"The people deserve to hear this music and it's music people deserve to hear."
In addition to the new pieces, there will be other songs from Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and France.
The pianist said as well as the strong response from the public, his family had also had an incredible response to the music.
"We commemorate Anzac Day in all sorts of different ways, but to do this project is really quiet personal for me," he said.
The performance is coming to the Dubbo RSL Club on Wednesday, April 24 at 7pm.
Tickets are available at the Dubbo RSL Club reception or through www.dubborsl.com.au.
