Crews in two trucks responded to a grassfire about 3.20am on Sunday behind the city's netball courts.
Firefighters were there for just over an hour.
Fire and Rescue NSW station officer John Poulos said it appeared someone had been camping and the fire had not been put out completely.
He urged people lighting a campfire to remain with it at all times, and if they did leave it, to make sure it was extinguished.
Anyone wishing to report a fire should call triple zero.
Dubbo Fire Station will hold an open day on May 18 from 10am to 2pm.
It will include safety demonstrations, fire station tours and the chance to inspect equipment and trucks used by our firefighters as well as an an array of children's activities.
