POLICE say the final piece of the puzzle may still be hidden on a motorist's dashcam footage and they are calling for help from the public.

Officers attached to the Orana Mid Western Police District say they are particularly looking for motorists who were recently travelling north-east of Dubbo.
"Police are calling for any dashcam footage from people who may have been travelling on the Golden Highway between, Dubbo and Dunedoo, on Monday April 8, between 6am and 9am," officers said.

"It may assist police in an ongoing inquiry. You might consider it to be nothing but it may be the last piece we need in a puzzle."
While police have issued the plea for anyone with footage to come forward, the officers' post to social media did not specify why the footage was needed.
If you have dashcam footage of your travels on this road during this time, call Dubbo police on 6883 1599 and speak to station staff about dropping the footage in.
