During the first week of April, officers from Strike Force Puma were deployed across the Orana Mid-Western Police District to target high risk traffic offenders in Dubbo, Narromine and Nyngan.

About 3.15 on Friday, April 5, officers from Strike Force Puma saw a Green Holden Commodore travelling east along Myall Street. 

At the time the vehicle was being driven by a female who appeared too young to hold a full NSW driver licence. Police also saw the young female driver was smoking a cigarette with two young passengers in the vehicle.

The car was stopped and police enquiries revealed the female was a 16-year-old who was yet to obtain a driver's licence. The two passengers in the vehicle were both 14-years-old and known to the driver.

The driver was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where she was charged with driving despite never having a licence and smoking in a vehicle with under 16s present.

Police said Strike Force Puma would continue to target high-risk drivers across NSW, no matter their age, to drive down the road toll.

"If you're a young person thinking about driving unlicensed or without a supervising driver, check your mirrors, Strike Force Puma has you in their sights," they said.
