What a big week of news we have had for my first official week as Editor of your Daily Liberal.
Sadly, we reported on two fatal car crashes this week.
These events do cast a sense of sadness across any newsroom when we have to report them and our condolences do go out to the family members and friends of those who died in the accidents.
On a more positive note we spoke to a Dubbo detective who is training to ride a massive 1,400 kilometres from Sydney to Geelong, as part of the 2019 Tour de Cure. Well done Warwick Campbell, go you good thing!
It's that time of year again when Daylight Saving finishes. Firefighters reminded us to change the batteries in our fire alarms when we change our clocks. If you haven't already done so, maybe you should.
Parents have a new avenue of support in Dubbo. Tresillian in Western Family Care Centre has received 45 to 50 referrals since it began operating at the end of January.
The service offers advice for a bub who won't sleep or settle, has difficulty feeding or any other early childhood issues, or if mums and dads need support.
Finally, more good news from the hospital development. Dubbo is set to experience a population boom as its public hospital moves to staff new facilities and offer new services. By any measure that is good news.
Oh, and the federal election was called...finally. We will be bringing you comprehensive coverage in the lead up to May 18.
Well, that's it from me, enjoy reading the news and thank you for supporting quality local journalism.
