A body police believe to be that of a 68-year-old man was pulled from the wreckage of a tragic single vehicle accident on the Mitchell Highway near Dubbo on Monday.

Around 11.20am, emergency services crews rushed to the Wellington Road, north of Eulomogo Road, where it was reported a car left the road and hit a tree.
The vehicle was ablaze and once firefighters extinguished the fire, a body was found inside the car.
The Mitchell Highway was closed for around four hours, in both directions while investigators secured the scene and examined the accident.
Eastbound light vehicles were diverted via the Golden Highway, Barbigal Road and Beni Street and the westbound diversion was the same in reverse.
Heavy vehicles were diverted onto the Golden Highway and Cobbora Road.

The road reopened around 4pm.
The accident was the second tragedy in as many days on Mitchell Highway between Dubbo and Wellington.
On Saturday night a 35-year-old male driver and his 29-year-old passenger died after their vehicle lost control and rolled a number of times near Wongarbon.
In March, police from around the Orana Mid-Western Region met in Dubbo to address an alarming rise in road fatalities.
"We're seeing a spike in the fatalities," Western Region Traffic Tactician Inspector Ben McFarlane told the Daily Liberal.
He said police are re-doubling efforts to stop the carnage on our roads.
"We'll keep doing what we always do, which is saturating trouble spots, any areas where we're seeing these spikes in fatalities and crashes, and restrict leave over Christmas and Easter all that sort of thing.
"Look out for each other. Any sort of road trauma, it's almost like a stone in a pond, because it ripples out and it effects a lot of people: emergency services workers, family, of course and friends."
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
