The pool will close to the public on Monday, April 22, 2019, but the water will remain in the pool over winter the mayor said.
"The water is retained in the pool over the winter season to stop the pool shell from 'popping' out of the ground - by the weight of water," Cr Shields said.
"In the past, we have drained the pool water two weeks before the commencement of the swimming season (mid-September).

"This water goes to the sewer system, which is then treated and goes to Greengrove and irrigation of our parks.
Cr Shields said with the internalisation of the pool management, Council would be reviewing the winter procedures to see if it is more economical and water efficient to retain the water and run a filtration system once a week or so.
"A decision on that will be made in the future," he said.
