Now the Western Rams winger is the leading try-scorer in the under 16 Andrew Johns Cup competition, and putting forward a strong case for NSW Country selection.
He's even attracted the attention of a couple of NRL clubs, with scouts from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels approaching him after last weekend's 44-4 semi-final win over the Greater Northern Tigers.
It's a dream Brandan - who travels to Dubbo from Peak Hill for school everyday - never imagined could come true prior to his selection in the Western Rams Academy.
But his family always believed.
"We always knew he was a great player," mum Fiona said.
"He always gives it his all in every game - actually, with anything that he puts his mind to, he just gives it his all.
"His dad [James] has always said 'you're going to play professional football on day' - he's always said that to him. But even if he doesn't, we're so proud of him."
Brandan has scored nine tries so far in the Rams' undefeated 2019 campaign, including two hat-tricks.
Plenty of his family will be on the sideline on Saturday, hoping to watch the Rams claim the coveted Andrews Johns Cup against the Northern Rivers Titans at Mudgee.
Brandan is "pretty confident" the side can prevail once again.
"If we play just how we played in the first half in the [semi] final, I reckon we'll get the win," he said.
"We completed our sets, kicked it down there and defended pretty good, and then dropped off a bit in the second half."
He said the key would be "our line speed - just get in their faces and just tackle".
The 15-year-old is quietly spoken, especially when asked to comment on his own brilliant performances.
He's happier talking up his teammates, including fellow Dubbo juniors Aston Warwick and Zac Williams, and fellow backs Braye Porter and Mitchell Wilson.
"It's probably just structure - it's really pretty good - and they just get the ball out there [to the wing]," Brandan said, adding the Rams forwards were also "pretty good".
"They've got really good defence."
Brandan was "pretty nervous" when the NRL scouts approached him last weekend, but thinks he's in with "a pretty good" shot of NSW Country selection if his form continues.
"I'll just play my game," he said.
"He's actually given is his all this season," Fiona said "We're really proud."
The pair thanked Pacific Sports Management's Gavin Orr for identifying Brandan at a western school try-out last year, crediting his guidance for Brandan's sky-rocketing form.
"He has encouraged him a lot in these last 12 months as well, in his football journey, so that's been incredible," Fiona said.
Brandan thanked his parents for "supporting me all the way", and had a message for other young footballers.
"Just keep trying," he said.
"Just keep going for it, and don't stop believing."
