Saturday is the first day of The Championships at Royal Randwick and while it's one of the biggest days on the Australian racing calendar, there's going to be a handful of people in attendance who really know little about the sport.

The reason they are there is in support of a couple of regional trainers from the state's west who will saddle up chances in the $500,000 Country Championships Final (1400m).
Dubbo duo Darren Hyde and Clint Lundholm will have Westlink and Sons Of Bourke in the rich feature respectively.
Both have received a huge amount of support since running one-two in the Western Racing Association Qualifier at Dubbo Turf Club in February, and that has only grown in the build-up to Saturday's feature.
"It's unbelievable. You just walk around town and people wish you all the best and say good luck," Hyde said.
"There's people going to Randwick who have nothing to do with racing but they're going because they're friends and are going to watch the horse."

Lundholm added there's been plenty of phone calls received in recent weeks.
"There's a lot of support and a lot of people want the western horses to do well," he said.
"Everyone gets behind their area and wants their area to win. People from out west are ringing up and saying they want the western boys to do well, and I'm sure we will."
The two trainers and close mates head to Randwick with horses in different situations.
While both are outsiders, Westlink caught the eye not only when winning at Dubbo but also when following that with a commanding victory in the Diggers Cup at Cowra.
He has been sitting steady as a $26 chance in recent weeks while Sons Of Bourke is the biggest roughie in the field by some way, at the odds of $101, after running a shock second at Dubbo and then a disappointing seventh in his final tune-up before the final.
The pair will also start next to each other in the final after Westlink drew barrier three and Sons Of Bourke drew four.
"I know it but the horse doesn't know he's 100 to one," Lundholm said of his gelding.
"He looks a million bucks and I know his run last start wasn't great but he didn't get a great run and didn't have a lot of luck. We know we're taking a horse down who's well and fit and he'll run a good race."
Hyde couldn't be more happy with Westlink.
The horse pulled up in perfect order after the win at Cowra and has continued to tick along nicely at home.
He's now primed to take place in a massive day of racing that includes the running of the Australian Derby. TJ Smith Stakes, and the $3 million Doncaster.
"I think he'll get a nice run from the three and hopefully he'll be travelling fifth or sixth the fence and get sucked a long and then he needs a little room in the straight," Hyde said.
"If he's traveling good enough he should be right there in the finish.
"If he runs top five I'll be happy. He's never run a bad race and I don't expect him to start now."
The two horses will again be guided by regular jockeys, with leading hoop Adam Hyeronimus having his third start with Westlink while Andrew Banks will pilot Sons Of Bourke.
To go to a race worth half a million, country trainers don't get that too often.

The Todd Blowes-trained Noble Boy remained a $2.50 favourite on Friday, while Mathew Dunn's La Scopa was on the second line of betting at $4.
"This is just the taste and then we'll win it next year," Lundholm joked of his first Country Championships Final appearance.
"But in all seriousness it's a great thrill. We've tried the last few years to get in and had some really good chances and this year we went in with no real pressure on, our horses were out in the market and form had been up and down but they produced on the day."
"To go to a race worth half a million, country trainers don't get that too often so I can't wait," Hyde added.
The $500,000 Country Championships Final jumps at 1.55pm on Saturday.
