Appearing in Dubbo Local Court from prison on Wednesday via an audiovisual link, Kurt James Baker smiled when Magistrate Gary Wilson said bail would be granted.
In addition to being charged with two counts of unlawfully entering inclosed lands, the 27-year-old was also charged with allegedly being in the possession of equipment police believe could have been used to break into a house.
Mr Baker pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His legal representative told the court her client admits he was in the Regand Park Boulevard backyards.
The legal representative said Mr Baker claimed three people with weapons were throwing things at him.
Mr Baker claimed he was attempting to flee these people when he entered the backyards, the legal representative told the court.
She admitted the claims could look fanciful but said she expected to be able to provide evidence that supports Mr Baker's version of events.
"Mr Baker requires hospital treatment," the legal representative said.
When Magistrate Wilson asked why, Mr Baker's legal representative responded by saying "I believe he has significant injuries to his genital area."
Magistrate Wilson granted bail with conditions attached.
Conditions included that Mr Baker not enter Dubbo and report daily to Mudgee police.
He is also required to comply with a 7pm to 6am curfew and reside at a Windeyer address.
Mr Baker will next appear in court in Mudgee on July 4.
