Sarah Bromhead-Dunn has Rett Syndrome. The Songs for Sarah Charity Day on Saturday, April 6 will raise money for her family to buy her a gravity chair.
Sarah's mother Kim Dunn said the chair - which will cost between $1500 and $6500 depending on the size - would allow Sarah another safe option other than her wheelchair or bed to sit in.
It also means Ms Dunn doesn't have to hold her on the lounge.
"It will make a huge difference just in our everyday lives and in her everyday life. I'll be able to go to the toilet without having to wait for her to go to sleep," she said.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
The charity day will be held at 21L The Falls Road. The Legless Pedestrians, DMC and Alana Potter will be performing.
There'll also be market stalls, a sausage sizzle, coffee van, face painting and a jumping castle.
Songs for Sarah organiser Ann Lyons said there would be a limited number of tickets available to the event.
Everything for the day, from the toilets to the musicians has been donated, allowing all the money to go towards the gravity chair.
"I've known Sarah since before she was born. I want to buy her the gravity chair so that she will be comfortable in her own home," Ms Lyons said.
"It's important to give back to those who run under the radar a little bit. I do it because not only is it something I want to do, but I'm fortunate enough to be in the position to do so."
Ms Dunn said without the fundraiser she didn't believe she would be able to afford the gravity chair.
"Sarah is a very positive, very strong little girl and she's actually looking forward to the day. She's really loves being around people," Ms Dunn said.
"I'm looking forward to people getting to have a bit more awareness about what she's like, for them to see Sarah for who she is and what she's capable of."
Tickets are available from Hair Predictions or by calling Ann Lyons on 0427 346 007. Tickets can also be delivered.
Songs for Sarah will be held at 21L The Falls Roads in Dubbo on Saturday, April 6 from 1pm until 6pm. Attendees are advised to bring their own chairs or picnic blankets.
