The 27-year-old Dubbo man pleaded guilty to failing to comply with reporting obligations in Dubbo Local Court on March 20.
In 2016 he was convicted of having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old when he was 24.
He was sentenced to a prison term of two years and 10 months, but was released from custody and placed on a good behaviour bond for the same time period.
That conviction placed the man on the child protection register for 15 years and forced him to report to report to police once a year.
In a facts document submitted to the court, police claimed the man reported in August 2017 but failed to do so in August 2018.
"For approximately one month the accused's wherabouts were unknown to police," police said.

"The accused has updated his personal circumstances on five occasions, each update the accused was explained his obligations and reminded of his annual review date."
The man visited police on October 30 and said he made 10 attempts to contact them in the previous five months.
"These registers have to be complied with," Magistrate Gary Wilson reminded the man in court.
"You only have to report once a year — it's not that difficult."
The man was found guilty of failing to comply with reporting obligations, placed on a good behaviour bond for 12 months and given a community corrections order.
