A MOTORCYCLIST from Dubbo has had his licence suspended after being caught riding well above the posted speed limit by police.

The offences occurred at 3.35pm on Sunday in the Hunter Valley.
"An officer from the Hunter Valley Highway Patrol was carrying out stationary speed enforcement on the New England Highway, Lower Belford," police said in a statement.

"Police detected a 25-year-old male from Dubbo riding his motorcycle travelling at 169km/h in a 100km/h sign posted zone."
This offence was detected a day following two fatal motorcycle crashes in the Hunter Valley, they occurred on March 22 and March 23.
The Dubbo motorcyclist was issued with a penalty notice for exceed speed over 45km/h ($2435). He also had his licence suspended for six months.
Police seized the registration plate from the motorcycle at the scene, which will be returned to the Roads and Maritime Service for three months.
