The Dubbo fundraiser was a part of nearly 40 other barbeques hosted across Australia which aimed to give back to local communities and help raise valuable funds for the RFDS.

A total of 200 attendees helped the Dubbo branch sell 180 sausages, to raise a grand total of $1501.

As well as Dubbo, communities across the country, including Tolga, Geraldton and Toowoomba, turned out in force to share a snag and get behind the RFDS where a total of $55,751.40, was raised with more expected before the end of March.

Dubbo branch manager, Blanche Robinson said people are at the core of their business.

"I love the people I get to work with, and the clients I get to work for, and so it is a priority to ensure our communities are well-supported," Ms Robinson said.

"The Royal Flying Doctors Service aligns very closely with our core values at Elders, as it provides such a vital service for those who work, travel and live in rural communities, who must overcome the challenge of vast distances to access healthcare"

Mark Allison, Elders MD and CEO, said the level of community support the initiative received was incredible, and he thanked all those who had attended, donated and organised the fundraising events.

"Elders and the RFDS share so much in common in terms of their commitment to rural and regional Australia, especially the health, wellbeing and prosperity of the people who live in these communities," Mr Allison said.

"It is only natural that a company such as Elders - whose roots are firmly entrenched in the rural landscape - supports an organisation such as the RFDS which provides emergency medical and primary health care services to those who live, work or travel in rural and remote Australia."

The fundraiser, called Elders Big Barbecue Month, was an Elders Give It initiative - a community program designed to support local community fundraising and sponsorships.

The program is also designed to raise funds for key not-for-profit organisations - RFDS, Landcare and beyondblue - which assist rural and regional communities across Australia.
