Last week Ricciardo got the chance to steer a Supercar, cutting laps in the Nissan Altima of Rick Kelly ahead of the Australian Grand Prix.

Afterwards the Renault driver was quizzed about a possible Supercars appearance in the future. He admitted the prospect of one day putting his skills to the test at Mount Panorama's famous 6.213 kilometre circuit meant he had considered it.

"I got asked not long ago 'After F1 would you want to do some races, do something else like V8s or NASCAR or Le Mans?'," Ricciardo told motosport.com.

"When I first got into F1 a few years ago, I was like 'Yeah, that'd be awesome, I'd love to'.

"But the more years I do this, it kind of wears you out. And I thought once I'm done [in Formula 1], I think I'll be done [with driving]'.

"I'm probably kidding myself, because driving that, [Bathurst] would be pretty cool. I'll never say never. I'd give it a good 50-50 at the moment."

As for Alonso - a two-time Formula 1 world champion - he is reportedly considers "Bathurst to be a major sporting event."

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown revealed Alonso would love to tackle the Bathurst 1000 now he has retired from Formula 1. 

"He wants to go and win all the big races, and he considers Bathurst to be one of those," Brown said.

"I don't think you'll see him in 2019 but I wouldn't rule him out for the future."
