The $5500 was boosted by a $1500 donation from a man whose mate accepted a dare to have his long beard and hair shaved off.
Twelve participants were joined by six people in the crowd who paid $20 each for a haircut.
Mr Wasson said the foundation would use the money for the likes of research and accommodation for patients and their carers.
He plans to run a "bigger and better" fundraiser at the hotel in 2020 when he will sacrifice his beard again.
