Mogriguy electrician Paul "Wazza" Wasson is missing his 30-year-old beard but grateful for the "very big crowd with very deep pockets" which helped raise more than $10,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation at Dubbo's Buncha Hotel on Saturday. He organised and took part in the World's Greatest Shave supported by the hotel and many sponsors and donors. "We had a target of $3500 but raised that before it started," he said. "We took $5500 on the day just in auctions and raffles." READ ALSO: The $5500 was boosted by a $1500 donation from a man whose mate accepted a dare to have his long beard and hair shaved off. Twelve participants were joined by six people in the crowd who paid $20 each for a haircut. Mr Wasson said the foundation would use the money for the likes of research and accommodation for patients and their carers. He plans to run a "bigger and better" fundraiser at the hotel in 2020 when he will sacrifice his beard again.
