Strike Force Bato led to five search warrants being executed simultaneously in Dubbo on Monday morning and another three in the Hunter Valley.
Orana Mid-Western Police District commander Superintendent Peter McKenna said there was also a significant amount of assets seized, including $140,000 cash, a Falcon V8 supercar, GTS HT Monaro and seven motorbikes.
"During the operation police have seized approximately $900,000 worth of cannabis (40 kilograms) and we will allege this will be the dismantling of an ongoing criminal syndicate involved in the supply of illegal drugs," he said.
"We will allege that these persons involved in this criminal syndicate come not only from Dubbo but also the Hunter Valley and Newcastle areas as well. They were all involved together in the ongoing supply of a commercial quantity of prohibited drugs."

There were more than 80 police involved in the operation, including the Australian Border Force and the NSW Crime Commission.
Superintendent McKenna said it was quite significant.
"This is at the higher end of drug supply operations. We're not talking about down the pub selling one gram of cannabis, we're talking about people who we will alleged are doing this for profit and financial gain," he said.
"It's a significant level and they'll be charged appropriately."
It was a reminder to the public to contact the police about any criminal activity, Superintendent McKenna said.
"We can't stress enough how important it is that the public do come forward with information whenever they have it, whether it be about drug supply, property theft, or any other type of crime, that's why we ask people to always utilise crime stoppers," he said.
