Nine bands will perform at the music festival at Dundullimal on Saturday, which has been organised by the Songwriters and Original Music Association of Dubbo (SOMAD). The event will also have craft beer and cider stalls, a coffee van, gourmet food and a dedicated kids area.

Eraser is comprised of Nolan Furnell, who writes the music, and singer Bec Smith.

In April 2017, Ms Smith posted on a Dubbo music group looking for someone to make music with, Mr Furnell responded and after a trial, they decided to make it more permanent.

Since then, Mr Furnell said the electronic band had sold out a show at the Western Plains Cultural Centre's Black Box Theatre, scored a local documentary and released their debut EP.

Mr Furnell said the band played the style of music they liked to listen to.

While they weren't the only people in Dubbo performing electronic music, there weren't many others taking it on, he said.

Being from a regional town like Dubbo, Mr Furnell said it could be hard to build a following.

"If we were to play in Dubbo every week we'd be playing to the same 30 people and they'd get burnt out," Mr Furnell said.

However, after performing three sold out events in the last 16 months, the band will play at their first festival this weekend.

"It'll be great to play alongside banks like Smith and Jones, they just sold out their EP launch, and Hatakaze from Sydney. It's great to be able to rub shoulders with bands that are a couple of levels above us," he said.

Mr Furnell said it would give Eraser the chance to go all out. But it also came with its challenges.

"One of the biggest things for us being a band that's mostly electronic is that if our laptop crashes it'll be over," he said.

The Under Western Skies Festival is almost sold out. Mr Furnell said it was great to see the community supporting a plan to turn Dubbo into a music city.
