The Dads of Dance are one of the ten performances in the 2019 Stars of Dubbo Dance for Cancer. The dancers will go head to head to take out the trophies at the Dancer for Cancer on May 11.

In the coming months they'll work hard with their dance schools - Stepping Out Dance Factory, Orana Dance Centre, Urban Edge Dance Studio and Western Studio of Performing Arts - to learn their dance routine.

The performers will also hold fundraising events to raise money for the Cancer Council.

There are two groups in the mix this year, the Dads of Dance and the staff at Marathon Health. Joining them are: Andrew Bassett, Josie Anderson, Rose Broughton, Allison Harland, Jessica Hull, Jacob Willetts, Jackie Lindsay, Lachlan Cusack and Holly Wenmam.

Cancer Council Western NSW's Brendon Argyle said it was great to see the well-known members of the community putting in the time and effort to help the Cancer Council.

"We are delighted to have so many community-minded people prepared to do so much hard work on our behalf. It's such a wide range of Stars this year, with one team of over 20 people and another of over 10," Mr Argyle said.

"It really is an amazing act of charity on their part to donate so much of their time and energy on our behalf. I encourage the local community to get behind the acts as they run their fundraisers around the region."

Mr Argyle said the energy in the group was truly inspirational.

Last year, the event raised $87,000. Combined with the money raised from the Relay for Life it funded the Transport to Treatment program which gives people within 200 kilometres of Dubbo transport to their cancer treatment.

The Dads of Dance are comprised of: Hale Gordon, Luke Scott, Tim Nichols, Warwick McCarthy, Jason Brown, Brad Widdison, Brian Amos, Jim Sarantzouklis, Nelson Kelly, Daniel Smith and Nathan Winters.

The 2019 Stars of Dubbo Dance for cancer was launched at the Western Star on Friday. More than $700 has already been raised, $300 of which was thanks to Mr Cusack.

Tickets for the dance at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre will go on sale in April.
