Kurt Eather and Luke Ensor were both in action and are seasoned competitors and have attended numerous high-level competitions in recent times. The third Dubbo rider was Emily Williams, who is making a return to elite competition after some years away from the track.
Eather returned from the Championships with a gold medal in his pet Points Race event. His medal tally was impressive with silver in the Individual Pursuit, and bronze medals in the Scratch race, Sprint and Kieran.
This tally earned him a position in the NSW under 19 team to contest the National Championships in Brisbane in April. At the National Championships, Eather will be considered one of the riders to watch in the endurance events particularly as he is currently ranked number two in the world in the under 19 points race category.
Ensor featured strongly all weekend winning the silver medal in the 40 lap Scratch Race. This podium achievement was supported by impressive rides to place fifth in the Time Trial and sixth in the Kieran final.
Ensor will now concentrate on the road events with his team MTOSS Racing. He will not have long to transition as he is contesting the UCI-sanctioned elite rider category in the 110km Blayney to Bathurst road race this weekend
Williams, making a return to elite competition, favoured the endurance events and finished consistently with a sixth position in the Elite Women’s Scratch race final and another sixth in the Elite Women’s Points Race final. Williams returned to track cycling at the beginning of this track season and is very quickly regaining the form that saw her medal earlier in her career.
The Dubbo Cycle Club's road race calendar for this season will be on display shortly. It is designed to cater for all rider types and a variety of distances and course profiles.
It is so designed to welcome both the seasoned rider and novice cycling racer. This track season Dubbo Cycle Club has welcomed back many riders who have taken a bit of a break from track racing.
The upcoming road season will provide the same opportunity to regulars and former cyclists, as well as any triathletes looking to keep fit in the off-season.
