Following on from the hottest summer on record for many locations, much of the region remains dry and drought-affected.
Thunderstorms are predicted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday this week.
Weatherzone data shows that Lithgow is likely to be the wettest location with up to 40mm of rain expected to fall before the week is over.
Around 20mm of rain is expected in Bathurst, Cowra and Oberon while up to 15mm should fall this week in Forbes, Grenfell, Parkes and Young.
It will be a little drier in Dubbo, Nyngan and Wellington with just 10mm of rain predicted across the week, while 5mm is expected in Mudgee.
If the predicted fain does fall it would be a welcome relief for the region with dam levels very low in some locations.
