A special visit will mark the 30th anniversary of a sister city relationship between Dubbo and Minokamo, Japan, later this year.

On June 7 the two cities will celebrate the milestone, with a special delegation of Dubbo residents to travel to Minokamo to celebrate the occasion.
The two cities have become close over the past 30 years through regular visits from delegations and school groups.
Minokamo also presented Dubbo with the generous gift of the Shoyoen Japanese Gardens during the 13th year of the relationship.
A Dubbo delegation of 20 residents, led by Dubbo Regional Council mayor Ben Shields will visit Minokamo on the weekend of October 19-20 to celebrate the anniversary.
“I have been part of delegations to Minokamo, including last year and can say how wonderful the visits are. I am already looking forward to this year’s trip and would encourage others to register their interest,” Councillor Shields said.
“The relationship between Minokamo and Dubbo is a very important one and I look forward to the next 30 years being just as good.”
Details on how to take part in the delegation will be released by council at a later date.
As per council policy all delegates will self-fund the visit and be responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
Participation in this event will be capped to 20 people and will be selected from a panel of interested councillors and staff.
