The British powerhouse is playing at the Dubbo RSL this Saturday as part of her national tour.

When the Daily Liberal spoke to Bex ahead of her Dubbo show she was enjoying a day off in her busy schedule.

"We've been on the road for two weeks now, it's been a wonderful adventure to date," she said.

"I've got a few days off… before coming to Dubbo."

Bex was born in Devon but is now based in London.

She found herself hooked on instrumentals and classical guitar standards which stretched her fingers and gave her a great basis for her own music to develop.

Bex's style can only be described as unique.

She is often compared to Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin and and says her influences also include Stevie Ray and Jimi Hendrix. 

A passionate traveller, Bex has previously hitchhiked the coast of Australia on cattle trains, always with a guitar on her back, living and storing tales to tell.

This is Bex's first proper tour of Australia and her return to the country after nine years, where she headlined performances at Blues On Broadbeach and Cairns Blues Festival back in 2010.

"It's a full on band scenario," Bex said of the current tour.

The triple threat artist not only sings, but writes and plays guitar too.

"That gives my style a more unique feel," Bex said.

"I'm very influenced by the roots and blues (style) of the deep south (of America) and I augment that with slide."

Bex said she has been humbled by the hospitality of Australians and said they are open to all experiences and last minute decisions.

"I think you have to be like that when you travel, especially in Australia where the people are so laid back," Bex said.
