The report identified more than 400 timber structures as being sub-standard across the state.
The Nationals announced this week that $500m has been allocated to replace and repair the State’s aging rural and regional bridges.
The announcement follows IPWEA (NSW) Roads & Transport Directorate’s Timber Bridge Management Report released last year that identified 417 of the State’s 1771 timber bridges as requiring attention.
“IPWEA (NSW) recently reported over 400 timber bridges as either in poor or very poor condition,” Deputy Premier John Barilaro said.
“That’s not acceptable.”
The $500 million in funding will come from the Fixing Country Bridges program.
Labor's Stephen Lawrence said If elected Labor would take care of basic infrastructure like bridges.
