The program is important for the school according to Agriculture teacher Andrew Thorne.
"This program enables Macquarie students the opportunity to be involved in a program that produces animals that will be entered into the Sydney Royal show," he said.
"They are able to experience the full life cycle of the birds from day old to entry into the show and see the changes that occur through the stages of growth.
"This experience offers students the chance to be involved in all aspects of animal management and production.
"They are able to make decisions regarding diet and nutrition as well as behavioural observations and in the process gain an understanding and empathy for the birds and the requirements they have to grow and develop in a safe, humane and productive way."
