Charlie Whiteley headlines the new look after being endorsed as president of the committee for 2019.
Whiteley, who joined the committee in 2016, takes the position from outgoing president, Paul Handsaker.
Handsaker was praised by everyone involved in the club for a wonderful job done in the three years he spent at the helm.
In addition to the appointment of Whiteley, Mark Campbell was nominated and accepted the position of treasurer while Karen Armstrong was returned as secretary.
Long standing committee member Paul Wells was named 2018 club person of the year after contributing a huge amount to Paramount.
Wells is continually achieving things around the courts, with the maintenance work he carries out around the club, in addition to regular committee duties, a highlight of his contribution.
With people like Wells involved and helping out, Whiteley is looking forward to the year ahead for the committee and is optimistic the club can have a great year both on and off the court.
“It’s a great committee to be a part of with everyone contributing and looking at ways we can make improvements at the club,” Whiteley said.
“Paul (Handsaker) has done a great job over the past three years, as has Karen and Craig Taylor (treasurer 2017-18) and the club is in a great position.”
One of the highlights for the club in 2018 was the successful rollout of the ‘Book a Court’ system. This system, which involved a considerable financial outlay for the club, allows members and social players to reserve a court and make payment online via the club’s website, and use a pin code to access the courts.
“We’ve got some strong numbers in our weekly competitions, which commenced at the end of January, and run over Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, while our junior numbers are also strong,” Whiteley added.
All members of the 2018 committee have returned for 2019 while there are a couple of fresh faces in Chandika Liyange and Candice Edwards.
Memberships for the 2019 season is currently due with players able to pay online via www.tennis.com.au/paramounttennis/membership or in person to a committee member.
