“We are stoked to get such a good win and it does prove how well we can play,” he said.
“It was a pretty good team effort; I was very happy with my brother Joe who took four wickets and Keiran Brien who got three.
“It was a bit lucky that we took early wickets because we probably were a bowler short.
“But putting them under pressure with the ball meant that we could use what we had and it was successful for us.”
Haylock lauded another consistent batting performance from Jason Green.
“Greeny scored 54 not out, and that was a pretty comprehensive knock for us,” he said.
“Brad Westcott got 33 not out and batted well also, but that’s Greeny’s fifth 50 for the year and he is getting harder and harder to get out which is good to see from him.”
Haylock is resigned to finishing the season just outside the finals and is disappointed his side started the season slowly.
“I still think we will end up in the fourth position on the ladder and just miss out on finals, but it is still good to be the best of the rest,” he said.
“We have been playing pretty good cricket, but I think other results from the weekend have ruled out any late charge to the finals.
“We had too much of a slow start to the season, unfortunately.”
Rugby president Steven Wheeler said his club found it hard to recover from a bad start to its innings.
“We got beaten pretty easily in the end, we got off to a bad start at 4/20, and it was hard to recover from that position,” he said.
“It was good to regroup and get 118, and we put ourselves in an excellent position to win when we took wickets early.
“Unfortunately they finished up getting the runs pretty easily.
“It was good to see our skipper get runs today.
“I thought Nathan Munro’s 61 out of our score of 118 was bloody impressive, and he looked pretty good today.”
