State Cycling Championships
Young Dubbo stars Cooper Farr and Ella Mann returned to the track on Tuesday night for Dubbo Cycle Club racing following their successful outing at the NSW Junior Cycling Championships on the weekend.
Farr took home gold in the under 9 boys State Time Trial while Mann showed great form and consistency to take home two Bronze medals and a Silver in the under 11 girls.
Cooper Farr, aboard the ‘red rocket’ used his home track advantage to set a blistering time in the Time Trial that no-one was able to beat.
Mann was at the pointy end of all her races and took her great form at local races to take her first State medal with a Silver in the scratch race and bronze medals in the Time Trial and Sprint events.
The Dubbo Junior contingent featured very well in all events over the two day championships with consistent performers Imogen Fuller, Emily Hines and Jarryd Fuller narrowly missing the podiums at the hotly contested State championships.
Senior club racing on Tuesday night saw Robert Thompson follow his good form at the recent club carnival with strong showings in B grade, taking the win in the ten lap scratch race.
Kurt Eather was too strong in A grade while Brodie Wheeler’s endurance saw him cross the line first in C Grade.
Youngster Dash Foley took out the D Grade event.
The Robinson and Fuller Homes Men’s Wheelrace was taken out by Tim Hines while a third place in the handicapped event was enough to see Dylan Eather take out the 18/19 wheel race series.
Haylee Fuller led home a strong field that included former Commonwealth Games champion Megan Reakes and Australian record holder Tyler Puzicha to take out the women’s wheelrace.
Cousin Jessica Fuller won the junior wheel race.
The very popular Time Blaster event saw Jason Canobie cross the line in first place but narrowly missed the required time of 52.6 seconds.
The prize money for this event jackpots next week.
Club member Warwick Campbell is looking for support raising money as he embarks on the Tour De Cure where he will ride 1400km, raising funds to find a cure for cancer.
